Ducks, Hearts and Bugs

Some kind and generous person sent me a gift card to Art Supply Warehouse. There wasn't a name included in the envelope so I'm at  loss as who to thank for such a thoughtful gift. This did not stop me from trotting down and spending it. Nope, not for a minute, art supplies are the siren call of every artist I know.

Most of the work that I do doesn't take more than pencil and paper, scissors and glue. But I still love wandering up and down every aisle, mooning over Winsor & Newton paint boxes and inks. I bought a cutting map, new exacto blades, four bottles of Daler and Browney pearlescent ink and some new drawing pencils. (Staedler Mars Lumograph 2B and 4B if you are curious, the kind that my friend Bob Singer uses.) The cutting matt allowed me to try some more intricate cutting techniques, so I made these...

What is your art supply vice? What makes you swoon? What item do you have too many of but can't resist? (Mine is rulers.)

Wishing you a creative week!

What supplies do I have too many of? Everything.. fabrics, paper, ribbons, yarn, pearls.. I once worked in an arts and crafts supply store, and started building up my storage then.
I dream of one day finding the time to use it all, so I hold on to everything.. but I am faced with the impossible task of having to fit it all into a much smaller space as the kids are getting my room. *sigh*

  3. Hi Marilyn, Love your art work and how you seemed to work two of your initials, M and W, into the middle pattern. These pieces are like German or Swiss Scherenschnitte. I subscribe to a Stamping magazine here in Australia and am up to Volume 15 and still have Volume 1 Issue 1 and all of them in between! I try to hide them all around the house and when I come across an old one it brings on moments of inspiration.

  4. Nice cuts!! I do some of my own... I LOVE paper!!! Scissors, exacto knives, and glue... for the last two years I have been papercutting and finding my own style. Feel free to stop by my blog to see what I have been up to.

  5. These paper cut designs are splendid, Marilyn! You are multitalented. When I hear how precious art supplies are to you, I wish I could send you a big box filled with new delights.

  6. Shelly! Hello!

When I used to see the UPS truck go down the street I used to imagine a box full of clothes waiting for me when I got home. Now imagine a box marked "Windsor Newton" :-) On the other hand, the most important art supply is just time, time to draw, paint and make things.
