In My Kitchen.

My lovely friend Celia writes the most delicious blog on the planet... Fig Jam and Lime Cordial.

http://figjamandlimecordial.com/

One of the things that she posts about is the delights in her bountiful Australian kitchen. She links to other blogs around the globe so I thought I'd share of few picts of what's cooking here at Casa Del Aguas.

A nice batch of bread dough turned into a baguette and some rolls.

We had some friends over for dinner last Saturday and started off with a cheese board made by the hub. The pale yellow cheese is one of my favorites, "Red Dragon", made mustard seeds it has a kick.
He made the cutting board from a piece of walnut. It's just the right size for passing around.

The hub made parmesan polenta hearts.

Cooking is like love; it should be entered into with abandon or not at all.   ~ Julia Childs

I made a spicy tomato sauce to go with the polenta.

Oranges, dates and spicy sugared almonds on a romaine salad in an avocado oil/champagne dressing.

Almond sponge cake got a whipped cream and fresh strawberry filling with Nuetella.

The hub also made these steak rollups stuffed with carrots, spring onions and zucchini.

Last night I made Moosewood vegetarian chile, coconut cream corn, chicken strips, also lemon yogurt muffins. The muffin recipe came from The Enchanted Broccoli Forest, another Moosewood cookbook that I hadn't looked at in a long time. It was like seeing an old friend.

What's in your kitchen? Do you have a favorite cookbook? Do dish!

  2. Hi Marilyn- I saw your muffins on FAcebook this morning and was thrilled to see you join the IMK posts! Did your wonderhub also make the cheeses as well as the board? I am really impressed at the way you work together in preparing the meals. Thanks so much for sharing!

    1. Hey Heidi Annie! The wonderhub didn't make the cheeses this time. He thought about it but we figured that there was plenty of other things to do. I bought them at the local hipster cheese shop. It does make it so much easier when two or three people are cooking. Many hands make light work and all... :-)

  4. Go on, ask me how excited I was when I saw you IMK post come up! Now I get to have a cup of tea with you in YOUR kitchen! Your bread is looking most fine, darling Maz, and tell me, did you first buy that cheese simply because it was called Dragon cheese? :) The Wonderhub is a treasure - love the bread board and polenta hearts! Lots of love from our side of the world to yours, darling friend. xxx

    1. Celia, awesome you! I'm so happy to be part of IMK. (Not to self start taking pictures of food for next month.) Tonight is a beef stew for the carnivores and maybe some biscuits. And I bought the Dragon Cheese because it is laden with mustard seeds and yum. There is a cheese called "Coach" made by the same people that make the handbags that I bought because of the name. It was delish. And that man o mine is a wonder. <3 Hugs back, Maz.

  5. What a feast in your kitchen.
I love that recipe from Hugh - use it a lot.
I like polenta but my family don't - perhaps they would eat it if heart-shaped!

    1. The polenta is a lot of extra steps, chilling, roiling, frying then the sauce but it is delicious, warm and crunchy. The hub loves cheese grits, I'm okay with it but this version fried is crave worthy. :-)

  6. Moosewood! Talk about taking me back : ) It seems like everyone on IMK is a baker of bread. I think I'm going to really give it a proper go. Thanks for the inspiration and welcome to IMK.

    1. There is nothing like warm bread right out of the oven. It's really amazing how a little flour, water,, salt and yeast can make something so delicious. I like the bread recipes in The Best Recipe, which is published by Cook's Illustrated. :-)
